The first time I stepped my foot in Indonesia, I knew this is not gonna be just another trip. I fell in love instantly with the language, people, culture and everything about Indonesia. My first visit to Indonesia was a short trip with my family to Jakarta. We were there to visit some relatives, therefore, climbing was not in the plan at all.
After I got back from my first trip, I couldn't help but to plan my own trip to Indonesia because I knew it has a lot more to offer. I was browsing my Facebook's timeline when I stumbled upon photos of Mount Papandayan uploaded by a friend, Acen Trisusanto, who is a mountaineer and the man behind www.jalanpendaki.com. His writing is not only hilarious but very informative, especially for adrenaline junkies.
Since mountain is his forte, I bombarded Acen with tonnes of questions about climbing in Indonesia and specifically, Mount Papandayan. I was not only guided with informations about the mountain but Acen also volunteered to arrange a trip to Mount Papandayan. I bet he grew extra grey hair while planning the trip.
My climbing experience at Mount Papandayan was amazing not only because of the mountain itself but also because of the people who climbed together with me. Thank you Acen, Reza, Sandy, Hjemmy, Ade, Nia, Munzir, Hazim, Ferd and Nabilah, thank you for everything. I will forever miss all the moments and hopefully this will be the beginning of more adventures together!
